Sadness and Grace

I am really sad about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. For different reasons. He was a genius. She was brave.

May they rest in peace.

Oh Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer [Reading Lists]

In an uncharacteristic middle class move, I bought the new Oprah magazine last night when I was buying cat food and coffee creamer (the staples of my life). The hook? a summer reading list http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahsbookclub/readinglists/pkgsummerreading/200907-omag-beach-reads. It's pretty good because it has some books I hadn't heard of or are just out...like Dreaming in Hindi by Katherine Russell Rich, which sounds promising. I am just a sucker for reading lists, especially summer ones. It's like a promise of a good time on a vacation -- hot weather and beaches. Time off. I don't really have any hope of vacation this summer -- lists are the closest I can get just now.

It didn't take me long this morning to pile onto the Powells Books website [AND they take Paypal in addition to evil credit cards] and order me up some good readin'. I even splurged and paid for second day air.

I feel a vacation weekend comin' on.

Two years and counting...

I have had this blog for a little under two years where it has lay dormant but fulminating. I continue to have dreams of being a writer but I don't seem to get anywhere. Probably because I don't write. My new goal -- take charge of my life, get up off my duff, and live while I have time.

See you tomorrow.

There is Nuthin' Like a Dame

It's a new fiscal year and I am not that fiscally-fit. So I continue to be one of those women who must live by their looks alone. I hope I can put this off.

Welcome to my new blog, Inchoate Writer. If you don't know what inchoate means, it gives you a reason to use the dictionary. My purpose is to write everyday so I figure, why not show it to the world.

I plan to write about the books I am reading, the book I am writing, my cats (of course, I am blogging woman), and my hobbies -- which are multiple.

So pull up that proverbial chair and let's tawk.
